Jute

Jute is a natural fibre made from the stems of the jute plant. It can be spun into strong, coarse threads that have a golden, silky appearance and consistency.

Jute is a hard-wearing fibre that is ideal for mats, rugs, and baskets. It can be blended with other materials to soften its naturally coarse texture.

Caring for jute

Being a natural material, jute can shed its fibres. The amount of shedding will depend upon the tightness of the weave. These are easily trimmed and can be put in your home compost.

Spot clean spills or stains immediately with a damp cloth and mild, natural detergent. Dab gently and avoid rubbing or brushing too vigorously.

Avoid getting excessively wet and air-dry in the sun or with a hair dryer.

For jute floor rugs, regularly vacuum and shake outside to dislodge persistent dirt and pet hair.
